RS-232 to RS-232 Optical Isolator
Model 232OPINA
The Model 232OPINA optically isolates four RS-232 lines. One
side of the isolator has both a DB25 female connector (J1) and terminal
blocks (TERM1). This side of the isolator is referred to as the V1 side on the
schematic. The other side of the isolator has a DB25 female connector (J2)
and terminal blocks (TERM2). This side of the isolator is referred to as the
V2 side on the schematic. Signals pass through the isolator as follows:

The RS-232 lines marked RTS and CTS can also be used to isolate data lines.
Power Supply
The Model 232OPINA requires two +12V unregulated power supplies at approximately 35 mA each. B&B Electronics Mfg. Co.
power supply Model 12VDPSIN is a dual isolated 500 mA power supply that can power several 232OPINA isolators. If power supplies
other than the Model 232OPINA are used, they must provide unregulated +12V power between 18 to 11 volts. Only isolated power
supplies can be used to power the Model 232OPINA.
Mounting
The Model 232OPINA is designed to fit REED DEVICES, INC. 2TK or 2TK series SNAPTRACK. In addition, there are four
corner mounting holes if standoff mounts are the preferred mounting method. B&B Electronics Mfg. Co. can also provide this isolator
with right angle DB25 connectors for use in card cage type mounting.
