1550nm filter for Passive
Optical Networks

The Bookham Technology solla-Q wide-band filter
family is based on thin-film interference filter
technology. A range of filter designs for passive
optical networks is available.
1550nm Bandpass filter for passive optical networks
This 1550nm bandpass filter is designed for minimization
of insertion loss variation across the passband around
1550nm. The filter also has 40dB isolation for signals at
1490nm or 1310nm.
Applications
The flat passband design allows for best performance in
analog video transmission. The deep reflection notch also
improves the isolation of 1550nm signals from the 1310nm
return signal and 1490nm downstream data. Similar filters are
available from Bookham Technology centered at 1490nm and
1310nm. This filter is especially useful at the Optical Line
Termination (OLT) found in passive optical networks for
multiplexing and demultiplexing.
