DynaRes
TM
ISA plug-in boards provide high-
accuracy, high-resolution measurements
for a wide variety of signals, including
volts, thermocouples, and RTDs. The de-
vice uses an integrating voltage-to-fre-
quency converter for low-noise measure-
ments with up to 1
V sensitivity, along
with programmable resolution from 12 to
20 bits. Unlike most plug-in A/D boards,
the DynaRes products have the unique
ability to make accurate, low-noise mea-
surements, including thermocouples,
even in noisy industrial environments.
Every channel can have a different soft-
ware-selectable range and resolution. Most
DynaRes users add optional signal condi-
tioning terminal panels to their system
for direct connection of thermocouples,
RTDs, and other signal types. The eight
differential-channel DynaRes board can
accommodate one external signal condi-
tioning terminal panel, while the 16 dif-
ferential-channel version can accommo-
date two terminal panels. Multiple
DynaRes boards can be installed into the
same PC for added channel capacity.
The companion ACAO analog output
ISA plug-in board provides either 2 or 8
channels of 12-bit analog output. When
used with DASYLab
software and the
DynaRes board, the ACAO can be used
for control loops, set point control, and
other control applications.
Two models of DynaRes plug-in boards
are available, offering either 8 or 16 chan-
nels of analog input with resolution of up
to 20 bits. To achieve the best measure-
ment performance, select any of the op-
tional signal conditioning terminal pan-
els on the following pages. The 16-chan-
nel DynaRes board occupies two ISA-bus
card slots and can accept two different
terminal panels. All terminal panels in-
clude a plastic enclosure and 3 ft. shielded
cable for connection to the DynaRes board.
Optional cables are available in 6 ft. and
10 ft. lengths. Up to 15 DynaRes boards
can be installed into one PC.
Software
To get the most out of DynaRes, use DASYLab
software, with its intuitive icon-based user
interface. Within a few hours of installa-
tion, DASYLab applications can be up and
running without the need for any program-
ming skills (see p. 194). The DynaRes board
is also supplied with QuickLog
TM

Model T71-TC Terminal Panel
The General Purpose terminal panel ac-
cepts eight differential voltage inputs, offer-
ing 6 ranges, from
25 mV to +10V full
scale. Each channel also has a switch-select-
able current shunt resistor built-in, provid-
ing current measurements from 1 mA to 50
mA FS. Signal connections are made via
convenient screw terminal connections.
A built-in cold-junction sensor allows ther-
mocouples to be attached to any channel.
For the most accurate TC measurements,
the Thermocouple model described below
is recommended. RTD/resistance measure-
ments are also possible by installing the
appropriate range-determining resistors in
specified locations on the board (or by
purchasing the pre-configured RTD panel
described at right).
The General Purpose model includes eight
TTL-level digital I/O lines, and built-in sock-
ets for optional isolated high-voltage
switching and sensing modules.
The Thermocouple terminal panel in-
cludes an Isothermal Block for eight chan-
nels of TC measurements as accurate as
0.3C. All channels can also accommo-
date the same voltage and current mea-
surements as the General Purpose model
described above. Thermocouple types E,
J, K, T, B, R, S, C, D, G, and N are sup-
ported, and are software selectable on a
per-channel basis. RTD/resistance mea-
surements are also possible by installing
the appropriate range-determining resis-
tors in specified locations on the board.
The Thermocouple model includes eight
TTL-level digital I/O, and built-in sockets
for optional isolated high-voltage
switching and sensing modules.

The ACAO ISA 12-bit analog output board provides either two or eight
channels of analog output, for use with DynaRes analog input boards.
Outputs can be configured for voltage, or 4 to 20 mA, and are 100%
digitally calibrated for high accuracy and stability.

Models T71-RTD-115C & T71-RTD-750C Terminal Panels
The RTD terminal panel offers eight chan-
nels of 2- or 3-wire RTD measurements. Two
models are available -- the T71-RTD-115C
version for -200C to +115C measurements,
and the T71-RTD-750C for -200C to +750C.
By removing a range resistor on an indi-
vidual channel, all voltage and current
measurements available on the General
Purpose module are accessible.
The RTD model includes eight TTL-level
digital I/O, and built-in sockets for op-
tional isolated high-voltage switching
and sensing modules.
