Reference Design Kit with PCI SDK
Based on the powerful combination of the PLX PCI 9080 Bus Master
I/O Accelerator Chip and the Hitachi SuperHTM SH-3 micro-
processor, the PLX PCI 9080RDK-SH3 Reference Design Kit
(RDK) provides a complete development environment for
embedded designs based on the Hitachi SH series RISC architec-
ture.
At the heart of the RDK is the PLX PCI 9080 Bus Master I/O
Accelerator interface chip offering a compact, high performance PCI bus master
interface for adapter boards and host embedded systems. The PLX PCI 9080
includes two high performance DMA channels, programmable burst modes, and
messaging functions. In addition, the programmable local bus can be configured
to directly connect to a wide variety of processors, controllers, and memory
subsystems.
The PCI 9080RDK-SH3 allows customers to quickly and easily add PCI to
a variety of applications in consumer electronics, multimedia and entertainment
systems, and wireless communication where the SH-3 excels.
The PLX PCI 9080RDK-SH3 Reference Design Kit includes a PCI v2.1 com-
pliant board and the PLX PCI Software Development Kit (SDK). The PCI SDK
features a complete set of tools for software development which significantly
reduce the time necessary to develop PCI and I/O Processor (IOP) based soft-
ware. The PCI SDK includes PCI 9080 host and local side application program-
ming interface (API) object code libraries for the Hitachi SuperH series. A Board
Support Package (BSP) with "C" source code provides everything necessary for
porting to your target design. Also included are sample Windows NT drivers
with source code. Plus you also get PLXMon
98, a robust and comprehensive
Windows NT based GUI utility that allows for interactive PCI and local bus
monitoring, debugging, configuration, and code download to the RDK board.
