VSC7197 - 20-Port Fibre Channel Switch
VSC7197
The VSC7197 is a 20-port, FC-AL Switch which
provides up to 4000 MB/s aggregate duplex
bandwidth. This non-blocking, bufferless switch
is optimized for the Fibre Channel Arbitrated
Loop environment and takes advantage of
this protocol's simplicity to reduce cost and
complexity in the switch. When paired with the VSC120 Enclosure
Management Controller and its associated firmware, the
VSC7197/VSC120 chipset provides high performance, advanced
diagnostic, best-in-class fault isolation and high availability for
storage sub-systems used in Storage Area Networks.
G E N E R A L D E S C R I P T I O N :
Up to 125 devices can be attached to the VSC7197 Switch at 1.0625
or 2.125 Gb/s. Groups of devices may be "Zoned" together to
provide isolation, security, performance and LIP isolation between
zones. The VSC120 may be a "shared" member of each zone.
Multiple switches can be cascaded with single or multiple trunks
in string or tree configurations which provide high performance
and flexibility.
The flexibility of the VSC7197 makes it the ideal solution for many
embedded switch applications especially SBOD/JBOD arrays and RAID
systems where flexibility, data availability and performance are required.
