DESCRIPTION
The NX-SFK Serial Flash Development Kit is a simple and
cost effective solution for system designers interested in
learning about and designing with
NexFlash Serial Flash
products. The kit is available in two versions, the
NX-SFK-SPI for NX25xxx series devices with 4-pin SPI
interface and the NX-SFK-NXS for NX26xxx series devices
with 2-pin NXS interface. The SFK and associated
accessories provide the basic hardware and software needed
to develop with
NexFlash Serial Flash Memories and
removable Serial Flash Modules (SFMs).
The SFK development board connects to the parallel port of
an IBM PC-compatible computer. It supports 3V and 5V
device operation and offers convenient test points for
probing signals during development. All cables and power
adapters are included, as well as a sample SFM and SFM
slide-in connector. Using the SFM greatly simplifies devel-
opment, since it can easily be moved between the prototype
and the SFK for quick interrogation and modification.
Optionalaccessories such as TSOP (Type 1) and TSOP
(Type 2) ZIF socket adapters are also available.
The SFK software includes a well documented set of "C"
Source code routines, which serve as examples of the data
sheet command sequences such as
Read from Sector,
Write to Sector, and Read Device Information Sector.
These examples can be used as templates for the user's
own firmware. The software includes "Makefile" support,
allowing the routines to be compiled with many popular "C"
code compilers from Borland, Microsoft, and GNU-GCC.
Pre-compiled executables are also included, enabling
immediate access to the Serial Flash using a simple
command-line syntax within DOS or from a Windows DOS
Shell. Other software features include special routines such
as "Write/Verify" and "Write/Read with ECC" as well as
utilities for formatting and verifying the Serial Flash array
(Note: these features may vary between NX-SFK-SPI and
NX-SFK-NXS versions).
